I’ll be away for the next few days and out of contact so I will not be following up on Forums etc until Tuesday August 1st.

Library Object Viewer Beta 0.15 Available
Uploaded to my website today. This beta fixes a coouple of problems with the last version and adds the ability to display objects in day or night texture. You can also now display single mdl files if some of your objects are not in libraries. The Getting Strated Video Tutorial has been updated to reflect the new functions. All feedback most appreciated.

Day or Night?
Thanks to a suggestion from Sid Schwartz the LOV can now display the object in day or night. If there are night textures for the object then selecting night will change the object to use those textures – also the background changes to midnight blue to give an appropriate environment for the object. Hope fully there will be a new beta to try in a few days.

Object Viewer Known Problem
For those of you testing Object Viewer, if the program hangs when trying to display an object and has to be shut down using task manager then you are probably trying to read an object with no textures. Do not try and display objects from a library called EZ-Effects by Ron Jeffers as these are known to cause the hang. I know what is causing the problem and will fix it in the next beta.

Library Object Viewer Beta Available
It is now on my site along with a simple ‘Getting Started’ Video Tutorial. This is the first beta so I am looking for feedback on how it performs.

Library Object Viewer Almost Ready
The 3D object viewer utility is now pretty much ready for beta testing. I am tidying up a few things and writing a few notes – with luck it should be available on my site sometime over the weekend.

Another Bug in LOM
A second bug has been found in LOM. This one relates to the quick placement tools. If you use the rotation control to change the heading of the object it does not change as you would expect. This is because the rotation is being applied twice by the program instead of once. So +90 becomes +180, -90 becomes -180 and 180 becomes 360 (0)
This should only affect the quick placement tools in LOM and not object placement in Scenery Maker.
The problem is fixed and I will change the execution only update from 1.002 to 1.003 in the next day or so.

Video Tutorials
Kobbe Farwick has very kindly produced some downloadable video tutorials. Two of them are for SBuilder, one shows how to create different types of excludes and the other how to create VTP Polys and Roads. Kobbe has also created a third tutorial, this one is for Scenery Maker and shows how to use the Fencing Tool. All three are available on my main Web site http://www.scruffyduckscenery.co.uk.
They are very good so please do go and see for yourself.

LOM/SM Version 1.002 Released Today
I have just released a bug fix for LOM/SM. This deals with the problem where user defined object scale information was lost. Most of us stick to a scale of 1.0 for FS9 objects and SM works fine in those circumstances. However if you wanted to make a specific object larger or smaller you could not. This release fixes that. It is an executable only release so you need to have the full version 1.00 installed first. Please read the release notes in the zip file. The update can be downloaded from http://www.scruffyduckscenery.co.uk
Thanks

Bug in Scenery Maker
A bug has turned up in the Library Object Tool. It does not remember the scale of the object if you change it from the default value which is associated with the object by LOM. I have found out why. I now need to figure out the best way to deal with it. It is in an awkward place in the code which sets the information when you change object so I need to work out how to deal with it.
In the meantime the work-around is to change the scale in LOM for the object and then use it in Scenery Maker.
